Democracy (not without Autonomy)

Democracy is a "D-Word"
Democracy is a "D-Word"

D is the first letter of the word "DEMOCRACY". Lucky likes to dance and that's the first thing that comes to mind when Lucky thinks about his favorite "D-words".

If one was to ask Lucky why the word democracy is not his top d-word, Lucky would remind you of his favorite "A-Word": autonomy. Without a true sense of autonomy in the individuals that comprise it, a democracy is of little value.

I agree with Lucky. Here in Europe (Germany) where I am based there is a lot of talk about democracy happening in both the public and private school systems. Ironically when educators speak to children about democracy it doesn't sound very democratic to me. They insist on consensus even though democracy comes in many different forms and they are not all the same.

Without the freedom to" be", and I mean that both literall and figuratively, a democracy does not vary much from a dictatorship, communism, facism, or any of the other colorful "isms" or belief systems. A democracy that doesn't celebrate a sense of individualism and freedom of expression for it's citizenry is not much of a democracy at all. The cornerstone of any democracy that is worth it's salt is that the citizens within that democracy are not afraid to celebrate their sense of individualism freedom in any way that they deem appropriate as long as it does not infringe on the rights of other citizens within said democracy; especially when it comes to speech.

I think that more emphasis should be placed on the freeedoms awarded to the individual to persue their own path to happieness. That's why at Lucky Mushroon I believe in empowering kids with the ability to articulate their wishes, dreams, and express their grievences in English. They can grow up to become veterans, rappers, or English trainers/teachers that frequently go on rants without using a spell checker if they so desire.

They can be right, left, or somewhere in the middle. In a democracy you can be yourself. In a democracy you are aloted the time to find and define yourself . Then you can vote to elect the person that you feel is best suited to represent you and your interests. Democracy in America starts with the people's (individuals) right to secure "the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity".

Without a sense of autonomy one can not form " a more perfect union" because one is automatically indoctrinated in a system without representation. Every child knows what it wants. My mission to to help them articulate what's already on the inside in English and to understand the world around them by listening.

I have been mourning and moving. That's not an excuse it's an explanation for my absence of late. I am back and I'm ready to continue my mission to make sure that every kid's inner artist is awakend and every child can express thier autonomy in English without fear.

I take my roll as Leo XVII (Pope of English Communication) very seriously.
